In Our Family This Week... I learned how to CAN peaches, pears and applesauce!! I have been wanting to learn this skill for a while but it always seemed overwhelming. Plus, it was going to cost a bit to buy the supplies to get me started. A woman in my ward (Kimberly Wing) had been trying to come up with a trade for photography and she asked if I wanted to trade learning how to can (and have her supply the fruit, the jars and the knowledge) for photos. I thought this was great and came home with 14 Quarts of peaches, pears and applesauce each. They look so pretty!! It was also the first home BSU game of the season! John went straight from Ben's football game on Saturday morning (which they won!) along with Nathan and headed down for the game and tailgating. BSU won :) Saturday was also Nathan's birthday - big 6!! He requested "Donuts and Bacon" for his birthday breakfast - and so that's what we had! On Sunday, we headed out to the farm to celebrate his birthday with the extended family. While there, Uncle Danny gave all of the kids rides on the 4-wheeler! I think that was their highlight!

In Our Homeschool This Week... August and Seth had their first Computer Programing and Advanced Math Concepts co-op class. It is out in Nampa and they were able to drive there safely (and didn't get lost! yippee!!). They are doing great with getting their daily assignments done and being responsible at managing their time wisely each day. The little ones were reading the Lentil Book for our Five in A Row series. We talked about being Patriotic and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. We also gathered around the piano and sang The Star Spangled Banner a few times. In Science we talked about our sense of Taste and the role of our taste buds. We also did some experiments with lemons. We also had art time at the library this week and then ended up staying for a few more hours just having fun spending the afternoon amongst books! We've also been watching a lot of the Scripture Videos for the younger ones.

I'm Grateful For... happiness. I feel so blessed that John is so supportive of me in all my doings and is always looking for ways to make my life better. Even after his long days at work, he is willing to do anything I ask of him :) I'm also grateful for that the Boise Temple is going to be opening soon!! Yippee!
My Favorite Thing This Week... Adhering to the "22 mile Spiritual Walk to the Temple" given to us by our Bishop. This was our first full week and we got up each morning to have Breakfast together as a family at 7am. We then had our Family Scripture Study (typically around the table) and finished up with Morning Family Prayer. It is somewhat of a sacrifice to get up and have things all ready, but I have already seen many blessings coming from it! Plus, it truly starts our days off on the right foot! I have been trying all sorts of new (mostly crockpot) breakfast recipes so that it can just be cooking all night while we sleep :) On Thursday, I decided to make these Patriotic Fruit Kabobs to emphasize the Patriotic theme we were discussing in our Lentil Book. They were yummy!
My Goals For Next Week... Finish up the 1st Konewko Wedding, get working on the next session, Exercise 5x's and continue on with our Morning breakfast/family spiritual time together.
