* Met with the Accountant and turned in all of our tax items.
* Went on RS visits as a Presidency
* Enrichment - which was super fun and very well attended!
* I sang in Sacrament meeting with the Sister Missionaries and Sister Fife. We sang a beautiful arrangement of "If the Savior Stood Beside Me". This is the first time I have sang in a small group (I've sung with a ward choir before but never just 2 sopranos and 2 altos!)... I was very nervous but we practiced for a couple of hours this week and it went perfectly! I had so many people come up to me and tell me how beautiful it was - so that made me feel happy :)
* I finished unpacking the Music Room and the front porch (an enclosed, heated 5x12 space that was filled with boxes!)
* Heidy and Tony came up on Friday night and we celebrated Heidy's birthday at a place called Ebeneezers.
* We tried to take the kids to the LEGO movie on Saturday and despite being an hour and a half early, the show was sold out :( We then walked the mall with the kids and then went out to dinner at the Royal Fork.
* Aubrie came down with a cold and has been congested for the past several days. No one else has shown any symptoms... and hopefully won't!
* We were informed that the owner of Rain For Rent wanted to show his appreciation for John and how hard he's working with a bonus! yay!
In Our Schooling This Week...
* Daily Devotionals from Preach My Gospel
* Older boys studying for the ACT
Spiritually Speaking...
Today was our Ward Conference and I was very inspired and uplifted! I really enjoyed the talk in Sacrament Meeting by our Stake President. His whole talk was centered around the question:
Are We Too Casual In Our Relationship With Heavenly Father?
- Do we Skip FHE on occasion and then it becomes the norm to not do it?
- Do we need something at the store on Sunday and make an exception and then that becomes the norm?
- Do we choose to work on Sunday just one time because it's needed and then find ourselves working more and more Sundays when it's not necessary?
- Do we watch shows inappropriate shows and fast forward through the "bad parts"?
Now is the time to strengthen what we're doing and take a stand! Determine where we are in our lives and move forward.
He then went on to give us 4 points to help us not to be too casual in our relationship with God.
1. PRAYER. Council with the Lord in all our doings.
2. STOP COMPROMISING WITH OURSELVES. These "exceptions" that we do in our lives will eventually be the norm if we keep compromising.
3. BE SURE TO BE PARENTING. Teach correct and right principles in the home and start early. Fathers should have regular PPI's with their children (at least once a month).
4. WE NEED TO KNOW OUR HEAVENLY LOVES US AND WILL LISTEN TO US. He challenged us to ask in prayer this specific question: "Heavenly Father, Do you love me?"
