December 1st - 7th

In Our Family This Week...
* We went to see the new Penguins of Madagascar movie for FHE. Apparently most families don't go to the movies on a school night since there were only 3 other people in the theater besides us!
* Lots more Christmas decorating! We're all done (for now! LOL) except for the "perfect" table centerpiece!
* Hung some lights and garland on the outside railing of the house
* Dad worked MANY hours (over 60 hours at the office this week - that doesn't count the hours he continued to work once he got home!)
* Dad attended the Temple in Bismarck with several others from our ward. One of the boys he taught in Young Mens was going through for the first time to take out his Endowment and asked if we would attend with him (unfortunately it was on the same day as our Ward Christmas Party that mom was in charge of and so dad hopped a ride with the Bishop and his wife).
* Like every other weekend, Ben spent it with Teagan over here at the house. I'm glad that he's found such a great friend here :)
* Seth went out with the Missionaries (twice)
* Mom went out with the Sister Missionaries to give a Christmas message
* August accompanied mom for the weekly shopping trip (which was so much fun to spend time with him! He was a great help while getting the groceries and then helped me put them all away once we arrived back home!) While we were out, we also did some Christmas shopping for him (he was in major need of some new clothes).
* Dropped the Suburban off to get fixed... waiting to hear an estimate of how much it'll be before deciding to proceed or not
* Several Hallmark Christmas movies watched while snuggling on the couch being warmed by the fire!
* Mom and the kids attended the Ward Christmas Party... favorite part (at least for mom!) was the photo-booth! Check out how cute we are!!

In Our Homeschool This Week...
* We are really wanting to focus on the Savior this Christmas season and so for our daily Enrichment, we are taking the "journey" offered in the book 21 Days Closer To Christ
* We have also started reading The Little Red Bucket as our Read Aloud
* Plus then we unwrap and read one of our Christmas books
* August and Seth are heading into the last 2 weeks of their college courses and they are both doing AWESOME! Seth has an A in both English and History and August has an A in English and B in History

Spiritually Speaking...
Today in Sunday School the topic was on Temples and the teacher posed a question for all of us:

What Does the Temple Mean To You?

I didn't contribute at the time, but that question has stuck with me all day and so thought I'd jot down my thoughts for this weeks Spiritually Speaking...
To me, the Temple means PEACE, LOVE, Forgiveness, Learning, Growing, Feeling Close to God. It means that my family is not only for the here and now on earth, but forever! It means gaining instructions on how to follow Christ's example and to know how to fully serve my fellowman. It's a place where I can go to receive personal revelation for anything in my life (and just FYI: that usually involves homeschooling and child rearing!) I'm so grateful that we have so many Temples and even though we're not in Idaho any more (where the Temple was only about 5 miles away) there's still one that we can go to for solace and peace amid the chaos of life!
