* Mom had a Presidency Meeting
* Dad went down to Dickinson for 2 days
* Watched the BSU vs. Hawaii game (we won 55-0)
* Jeff Foxworthy (a comedian) came to Minot during the Norsk Hostfest. Mom and dad went and enjoyed the show.
* Seth went to a HS football game with some friends and then had a game night with them afterwards.
In Our Homeschool This Week...
* Fun Library trip
* Daily Enrichment with songs, scriptures and gospel principles
* Science: Oceans, Life cycles of butterflies and frogs, blood, infections in the body, digestion, harnessing wind power and how windmills work, Sid the Science Kid and Magic School Bus
* History: William Kumkwamba, myths and legends
* Art: handprint art, coloring, drawing, making windmills
* English/Language/Writing: Novel writing, grammar, letter sound Bingo, nouns and verbs, word searches, writing sight words, learning sight words (Nathan has leaned 17 sight words!) and lots of reading!
* Math: Bedtime Math App, story problems, symmetry, multiplication, addition and subtraction
It's no secret that Lexi wants to be Marine Biologist when she grows up. Dad was telling her that his cousin is a Marine Biologist and then...
Aubrie: "Call her! Text Her! Facetime Her for Lexi!"
Lexi: "We can't do that because there's no WiFi under the water!"
Spiritually Speaking...
This is one of my (mom's) favorite weekends of the year... GENERAL CONFERENCE!!! I have been so excited to hear the counsel for us from the Elders of the church - especially the Prophet! This was also a momentous occasion since THREE new Apostles were going to be called and sustained! While it was very sad to have the passing of Boyd K. Packer, L. Tom Perry and Richard G. Scott since last Conference (in April) there was definite excitement upon seeing new Apostles called.
Here are the 3 that were called (L to Right): Ronald A. Rasband, Gary E. Stevenson and Dale G. Renlund. We were able to hear from each of these wonderful men during conference!
We watched both sessions on Saturday, both on Sunday and then Dad, Seth and Ben went to the Priesthood session Saturday night (August had to work...)
There were so many wonderful talks that spoke directly to me!! I think my 3 favorites were:
Larry Lawrence's talk about how the Holy Ghost has customized counsel for each of us - and all we have to do is ask! He challenged us to pray and ask God was was hindering our process or what we might need to change in our life. He also suggested that we ask God what we're doing RIGHT when we need upliftment.
Then I REALLY loved Bradly D. Fosters talk on INTENTIONAL PARENTING!! I've already listened to it 2 more times since it was given on Saturday afternoon!
and then Devin G Durrant's talk about PONDERIZING! I've been very inspired to implement this into our daily Enrichments :)
Many designers/artists create little inspirational pictures from Conference Quotes and here were a few that I really liked from over the weekend!
