* Invited a new family in the ward over for dinner. We had a BBQ and enjoyed getting to know them
* 2 Football games each for both Ben and Nathan (Nathan's team won both games and Ben's team won 1 and lost 1). At Bens game (against The Northern Cheyenne Tribal School) he was up against a very big boy (a 6'3 350+ pound Senior) who for some reason didn't like Ben at all and was head butting him and throwing cheap shots throughout the entire game (and even tackling him after the whistle had been blown, etc)... Finally in the 4th quarter, things escalated and this boy finally got a penalty thrown on him (which should have been happening the entire game!) and this made him even more aggressive and so on the next play he really went after Ben! When the play was over he was still going after Ben and so the Referee tried to get in between them and the boy hit the ref in the head to get him out of the way and then was hitting Ben and so Ben started swinging back at him and this resulted in both of them being ejected from the game. Ben is also suspended from playing in their next game. Since he is a Starter for the team, he is really feeling like he's let the team down and it has been hard on him. The team had seen how this other player was acting the entire game and have been supportive of Ben. Since the game was there on the Reservation, the coach (and us!) were worried that the other player would be waiting for Ben after the game so we had to take some extra precautions - but all ended well and we got out of there safely. Honestly we think the other boy had some deeper issues going on (not related to Ben - he just happened to be the one in front of him) since one of their teammates had died the week before. He was probably just hurting and was taking out his pain on Ben. Also, another side note - I haven't really ever been on an Indian Reservation before and they had dogs running loose (even on the field... during the game!) and we saw 2 dog fights on the sidelines (right by the bleachers!) It was scary! Quite the eventful night! I'm glad we ended up attending the game since (to be there for Ben when things went bad). We hadn't originally planned on it (it was 2 hours away and we made a last minute decision to go)...
* Seth and Dad went to the Temple together
* Mom spending lots of time in the car doing the whole "football circuit" for Ben and Nathan. We are typically gone from 3-7pm. Only 4 more weeks of it...
* Packing, packing and MORE packing for Seth... we have made so many trips to Walmart for "just one last thing..." haha
* Dad, Seth and Nathan went to the movie showing of Star Trek
* The girls go to Activity Days every other Wednesday at the church. This past week it was a "Daddy Daughter Olympics" night and the girls were excited to have fun with dad!
* More preparation for starting up school (we'll be starting right after Seth leaves)
* Finalizing Seth's clothing for his mission and getting everything (including his suitcases and backpack) sprayed with Permethrin to help deter the mosquitoes away from him!
Spiritually Speaking...
So today for the Spiritual Speaking, It's me Seth talking. So I recently was set apart as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I leave bright and early Wednesday morning to begin this great and wonderful service. It's been one big great and wild ride. I received my call to serve 100 days ago today, and in that time I worked a summer Job, became an ordinance worker at the Billings Montana Temple, which was a wonderful and amazing experience. In addition I managed to spend a lot of valuable time with my family. I guess for going I feel really nervous and anxious, but also I know that this is the right thing for me to do, and that I and my family will be blessed and protected as I go out and serve. I know I will be able to bless the lives of many people, and will strive to do my best as I serve down in Nicaragua. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen
