December 5th - 31st

In Our Family The Past THREE Weeks...
* Dad had multiple trips down to Gillette, WY
* Dad got into an accident on his way home from one of those Wyoming trips
* We have been DUMPED on with snow!!
* Last minute decision to spend Christmas In Nebraska!!
* A storm was predicted to hit Billings and so mom and the kids decided it would be best/safest to hurry and leave to Nebraska before the snow storm hit! Good thing they did as it was a record breaking storm and snowed dad in at home for 4 days!! They left on Wednesday, December 14th and came back on Thursday, December 29th.
* Dad and August made it down to Nebraska on Christmas Eve and (sadly) had to leave back to Billings on the 26th.
* Cookie making with grandma, lots of shopping, menu planning, Christmas music, nightly Hallmark Christmas shows with popcorn, hours of wrapping presents, morning walks with dad and just enjoying each others company all happened down in Nebraska!
* JR, Lori and family along with Jared, Hope and family all came to celebrate Christmas in Kearney! It was a packed house (22 of us!) but the cousins loved playing with each other and it was a "happy chaos" - only thing missing was Kathryn and her family (and of course if dad and August could have stayed longer than 36 hours!)
* Made a trip to the Children's Museum with the girls, Grandma, Uncle JR, Anders and Ada
* Made/Delivered Lasagna dinners to our neighbors to Thank Them for clearing out the lane for us so we weren't snowed in!
* Had our 22 year anniversary!
* Fed the Missionaries
* Celebrated August's 20th Birthday!!
* Rang in the New Year as a family!
* CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS! We continued on with the tradition of doing handmade sibling gifts...

Seth Spotlight...

* Had Elder Lund (who is also from Billings, MT) and his companion stay 2 nights with them and apparently lots of fun was had
* Eaten at some "American" restaurants - Buffalo Wild Wings and Pizza Hut
* Getting along great with his new Companion/Trainer - Elder Alfaro (from El Salvador)
* Enjoyed the "12 days of Christmas" that we sent to him
* Had a Zone Conference
* Service Projects and teaching lots of lessons
* Spanish is getting better each day!
* We got to SKYPE with him on Christmas Day!!

Spiritually Speaking...
A few Tender Mercies that were recognized:

* Dad wasn't seriously injured in the car accident! Things could have been much worse and are thankful they weren't
* August has been car-less for the past 3 weeks! He then got a quote for the repairs and it was too expensive to invest the amount they quoted. Then the auto shop billed him $200 for diagnosing it (which he was able to get down to $150) but still that's a lot of money for doing NOTHING! The Tender Mercy was that after talking to the manager, they got the truck running and only charged him $120 plus the promise of a food donation to their church. He was so very thrilled and attributed the miracle to him paying his tithing! We agree! I also reminded him that blessings will come to us from the Missionary service that Seth is freely giving and felt this was one of those.
* Winter Travel is always stressful - but for us all to be kept safe and to have (mostly) dry roads for both legs of the trip was a blessing!! Especially considering that within hours of leaving AND returning home, large amounts of snow fell in Billings and the surrounding areas!
* Being able to Skype with Seth! Seth was concerned about the weather impacting his ability to connect to the internet (he said it was raining really hard there and that usually causes the internet to go out). Mom prayed fervently that all would work out - and it did!! We had a good connection and minimal freezing!
