June 12th - 18th

In Our Family This Week...
* The kids finished their first reading charts for the Library Reading Program - they each read/listened to 500 minutes and were able to pick out a prize! They are already well on their way to filling up their second chart!
* Seth's birthday! Happy 19th to Seth on Wednesday (the 14th).
* Road trip to Idaho! Left bright and early on Thursday (even made a quick hour stop in Burley to visit with Amber and Pablo at Goode Motors). Friday, we walked through out Boise home to see what it would need to list and then mom and the kids went out to Stephanie's for the rest of the day. Dad had some business to attend at Gowen Field, then visited with Justin Ross, went to the Blue & Orange store and then spent the evening with Bill Belau.
* Saturday was devoted to dad's 25 Year High School Reunion. He graduated from Centennial High School in Meridian in 1992. We took the kids and attended the picnic lunch at the park, then drove by the old high school, then showed the kids where mom used to live, which church dad was baptized in and then back to the farm to drop off the kids. Grandma took them to dinner at Red Robbin and mom and dad went back to the Adult dinner for the reunion.
* Sunday was FATHER'S DAY!! The kids all wrote letters and the girls did some crafts for dad. His "big gift" was going to Metallica last week! He is seriously the BEST father around! He provides us with such a wonderful life and it provides the opportunity for me to stay home with the kids and teach them and watch them grow! He always makes time for the kids and makes special effort to have one-on-one time with each of them. He's definitely the "fun" dad but is also there for the serious times as well. I'm so grateful that we have been blessed to have him! We are truly the lucky ones!!!
* Sunday we also celebrated Grandpa Vogt and his 70th birthday (although he was adamant that he was still "in his 60's" until the 19th!) There was a big party Sunday afternoon with extended family but we had to be on the road so we celebrated earlier. We are so grateful to have Grandpa in our lives as well! He is a wonderful to the kids and is always willing to help out! He is a  super hard worker and works hard (physically) out on the farm day in and day out! He teaches us all by his example and we love him very much!

August & Ben in Nebraska...
* Went to see The Mummy movie
* exercising and scripture study in the mornings
* Schooling/studying for August
* Jared, Hope and family came up for Father's Day
* Helped a family move

Seth Spotlight...
* Had a conference with the entire country of Nicaragua where the Apostle (Elder Renlund) came and spoke. They rented a mini bus and he had fun sitting in the back with other Elders from the US and talking English to them on the trip to Managua
* Got to eat at McDonalds (and was particularly excited about the Ice cream there!)
* Had a multi-zone conference on his birthday! They ordered too much food so he was able to take home some extra pizza and breadsticks - he was happy!
* He was also happy and excited with all of the birthday cards and letters from friends and family that arrived with his package!
* Did a zone activity and climbed a mountain

Spiritually Speaking...
 (Dad Edition)

Lately, I have had the joy of really delving into the New Testament. Honestly, I've never read it all the way through. I had read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, extensively along with Revelations, several times. The rest of the New Testament had just been snippets here and there. I decided that it was high time that I begin to read the rest of the N.T.. I jumped right into Acts and have just found it be both fascinating and faith promoting. Those early apostles would not deny their faith and they sealed their testimonies of Jesus Christ with their own blood - many in horrific and gruesome ways.  The book of Acts has so many miracles in it and I have enjoyed seeing the hand of God present in so many ways.
