* BIG NEWS of the week is that we are no longer home owners!!! Yay!! We are soooo thrilled that we finally closed on our Boise home!! It feels great to be relieved of that financial obligation!
* Dad was sick on Monday and worked from home
* Ben worked several days at McDonalds
* Dad went Bear hunting with Clint Pollock
* Service project of splitting wood for Ben
* Mom worked on designing several things for Primary for Grandma Carlson
* Dad and Lexi went Deer hunting together - Lexi absolutely LOVED having the whole day out in nature with just dad!
* After 1.5 years, mom FINALLY got her drivers license converted to a Montana one
* Lots of beautiful Fall Colors abound!
In Our Homeschool This Week...
* Enrichments of singing, scriptures, Faith stories, Learning gospel principles through songs, The Plan of Salvation, Apostles, Priesthood, Missionary work and early morning Seminary
* Math: more fractions, reducing factions, measurements, Logic games, story problems and squared numbers
* Reading: Our double read-alouds each day, independent reading, All About Reading lessons for Nathan focusing on compound words, Sight words, Novel Editing for Ben, read Gullivers Travels
* Each week we do a Classical Spotlight and this weeks was Anne of Green Gables so we read an excerpt from it and then watched that part in the movie. The kids all enjoyed it so we might put the full version into our Read Aloud rotation
* Aubrie listened to the entire book of 1st Nephi - she drew pictures of the stories as they were being told
* People/Things we Studied:
- Pythagoras and the Pythagorean Theorem
- The science behind Slime and polymers in glue
- The country of Iran and it's geography, climate, people, food, national anthem, Flag, capital city, population and Landmarks
* Girls went to Art class at the Middle School
* Scouts for Nathan, Activity Days and Dance for the girls
* Library
* Daily arts and crafts! Including Pancake Art!
August in Nebraska...
* Studied many hours for the A+ Certification test! Unfortunately the test got the better of him and he didn't pass it... He's trying to keep in positive spirits and we're glad that he has grandma and grandpa as his support group!
* Went to Lincoln to celebrate his friend, Seth's, birthday
* Still hasn't gotten a job but is hopeful things will work out with the Buckle... and soon!
Seth Spotlight...
* Went on a hike for PDay with some of the missionaries from his Zone. The mountain overlooks his city of La Trinidad. Afterwards they went into the city of Estili and ate at the Burger King. Side note: La Trinidad is a smaller town outside of Estili (like Laurel is the Billings or Nampa is to Boise)
* He and his companion got to milk a cow and then they drank the fresh milk! He said it was "alright, a bit warm but good and pretty creamy."
* He and Elder Soares eat dinner with the Branch President and his family every night
* One of his investigators (Trinida) is preparing for Baptism
Spiritually Speaking...
Ben here... So I was seeking an answer for my normal, everyday life and I didn't know what to do to receive it. So my mom suggested that I pray, read the scriptures and ponder my question. I agreed and the next morning I started off my scripture study with a prayer, asking specifically the question that had been on my heart. After reading 5 chapters in the Book of Mormon, I got my answer clear as day!! I was so astonished! It was so cool to know that God is aware of me and that he really answered my question! I promise that if you ask with Faith, you can receive and answer by reading scriptures, praying and pondering.
