June 29th - July 5th

In Our Family This Week...
* Covid-19 In Numbers: As of this weekend Idaho has had 7,431 cases (that's 2,112 more this week alone) and 94 deaths (only up 3 from last week), 2.92 Million in the US (that's an additional 540K new cases from last week) and 132K deaths (up 7K) and 11.3 Million cases Worldwide (that's 1.5 Million more from last weekend) and 532K deaths (up 36K from last week). Boise has now made Masks mandatory whenever you're out in public. Meridian hasn't made it a law but is strongly encouraging it so that they don't have to make it a law... We figured there'd be a rush on masks so we ordered a couple of boxes on Amazon right away and were blessed to have them in stock and arrive the next day! Xylem has also implemented that Masks be worn at dad's work whenever they're with others...
* Uncle Morgan, Aunt Kat and Leo & Ezra arrived Monday night (around 10pm) to stay the night on their way home from Nebraska. We stayed up past midnight visiting and then they stayed all of  Tuesday with us - yay! John only worked in the morning so when he got back we decided to go to Jump Creek. It took us about an hour to get there and we all really enjoyed the hike to the waterfall. The water was freezing but that didn't stop the girls or Leo and Ezra from getting in! After we got back home, we made some BBQ chicken while Dad and Morgan went shooting at the Indoor Range. When they got back, we lounged on the back patio and visited the night away! The trip was quick and over too soon! We set a date to go visit them in Washington next month - so that will be fun!
* Dad has spent lots of time at the Indoor Range this week... Like I mentioned earlier, he took Morgan when they were visiting and then he also took Ben this week as well as a friend from Utah who was in town - Mike Coyle. It's a good thing we have an unlimited membership!
* Dad had an overnight trip to Eastern Idaho with work (Wednesday - Thursday). He hasn't had to travel much lately and we all missed him! On the way back home (he was with Bill Weymouth and Aaron Terry) they decided to stop off at Craters of the Moon. They also made another pit stop outside of Boise to get the "Good" fireworks (all of the Mortars and HUGE fireworks!) We haven't bought fireworks in several years and this year we totally made up for it! haha
* 4th of July! Hooray! We had originally planned on getting together with a few families down in Kimberly, Idaho at the Baileys and camping overnight. Sadly, those plans got cancelled last minute so we just had our own Family BBQ and then the Belau's came over for the Fireworks display. We set up all in the driveway and then had the cul-de-sac to set off the fireworks in. Dad really went all out and we had quite the show! There were some pretty impressive ones! Aubrie had also made some patriotic desserts (a Flag fruit sugar cookie bake and then some red velvet cupcakes with blue and white frosting) that people splurged on while watching the fireworks.
* While dad was away - Mom and the girls decided that was a good time to work on a kitchen project! After watching so many home improvement shows, we thought it was time to give our overly oak kitchen an update!! We knew we could tackle and complete the island while he was gone and with only minutes to spare before he walked in the door, it was all put back and 100% complete and ready for the reveal! He was surprised and loved it! In fact, we all LOVED it! and so we jumped in and repainted the homeschool buffet area. Not only did we paint it, but I'd also found a tutorial on Pintrest on how to extend your cabinets to the ceiling. Dad was on board to tackle the job and since he had Friday off (for observance of the 4th of July) we got to it right away! The girls have been spectacular helps! It's been like having 3 of me! They've been right by my side and working long hours beside me and I have loved every minute of it! I'm happy that they'be been learning such useful skills, too! We have sanded, primed, sanded some more, filled in holes, painted, installed new hardward and rehung cabinets! It's been a long process and very time consuming but we're LOVING the new look!

Spiritually Speaking...
* The Bishopric asked if our family could attend Sacrament meeting to help with the Sacrament (mostly they just needed Dad and the boys) but we decided we'd all go... and it's a good thing we did as there was only one other boy that showed.  That YM and Seth blessed and then Dad and Nathan passed (Ben was late getting there as he was picking up Natalie to join us) so he wasn't able to help. There was only our family, the family of the 2nd Counselor, the mother of the other YM and then one elderly sister in attendance. The 1st Counselor in the Bishopric was also there but Bishop was not (as he is severely sick with Covid-19 symptoms - although his test for it came back negative). After the Sacrament, the 2nd counselor bore his testimony and then we had a closing prayer and it was over in about 20 minutes. Everyone wore a mask (except Ben and Natalie as they left theirs in the car). It was certainly different and very bare but the Spirit was felt and being back in the chapel and a familiar calm on us...
