Dad was asked to give a presentation on his time in Iraq to one of the history classes at Meridian High School. He put together this presentation (and while we don't have all of the words and stories he shared to go along with each slide, I figured this would be a nice little overview and brief summary) to include in our family history. Dad left is July 2004 for training. He came back in December (of 2004) for Christmas (and to baptize August!) before flying out to Iraq in January 2005. He was able to take a 2 week Mid-tour leave and come back to visit us in September 2005 and then after that it was smooth sailing until he came back for good on Dec 23, 2005! That was a Loooooong 18 months being separated as a family. After the first year, we went to Nebraska to spend the summer and ended up staying for the rest of the deployment there with Grandma and Grandpa Carlson. The boys enrolled in the local elementary and mom volunteered in the school.
