In Our Family This Week... Things were a bit "back to normal" with Drivers Ed being over and Seth getting a ride home from Tennis all week long! It was wonderful being able to just stay home and get some of (back logged) housework done. Tuesday was our First Family Preparedness Meeting with the group John put together :) We were thinking it'd only be an hour but 3 hours later, and the last of the folks were finally leaving! We went around and did a little "intro" and shared what we were currently doing to be prepared and what we thought our strengths/weaknesses were and what we thought we could teach to the rest of the group. We've decided to meet the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month and we'll rotate homes. It was pretty fun :) Saturday was the final wrap up of our Ward's "22 Spiritual Walk to the Temple" honoring John Rowe Moyle who walked 22 miles each way to be a stonecutter on the SLC Temple. He continued to do this even after his leg was amputated. We started this inspired journey back in Sept. with the encouragement of our Bishop to do these four things with our family: daily Family Prayer, daily family scripture study, a daily family meal, and FHE. It has been a wonderful experience! Anyway, Saturday was the finale where those who wanted to, could walk 22 miles (along the greenbelt). John and the older boys planned to half of it and come in at the 11 mile marker and then the little ones and I would do the last 1.5 miles with them... .that's not quite how it turned out. Only John and August went to the 11 mile marker (Seth had a sore back from tennis practice) and then John ended up getting some bad blisters and ended up being "rescued" after about 8 miles. So by the time the little ones and I got to the starting point, John was already there and so the kids ran off to play on the playground and I sat and visited with friends :) and Sadly, I got no pictures from the event! Other things we did this week...

In Our Homeschool This Week... Can I just say that I'm really loving the Task Cards! They have really been working out great! We've refocused our efforts with Ben and really trying to encourage him to "do more"... Ben studied poetry this week - specifically by Longfellow. He then tried his hand at his own poem... I thought it was so cute that I wanted to include it here for me to remember!
Battle
As we march
out to battle I cry, I spy
So no one
will be despised.
When we get
there I cry and cry
As arrows
shot from the sky
I scream,
I shout, I was shot in the leg
what pain it
gave as I was dragged threw the sag!
I had
remembered what pain it gave.

Spiritually Speaking... Remember how the other week, I shared about the incredible experience I had in selecting a name for my 1st Counselor? Well, I'm here to finish the story... She was indeed called and sustained in Sacrament today. When we got together for the first time, I asked if she wanted to hear the story about how her name came to me. She did, and listened very intently. Afterward, she was very emotional and told me how all that week the spririt had been whispering to her that she needed to bare her testimony that Sunday and that she needed to share that specific part of her Patriarchal Blessing. She said that she knew someone was trying to make a decision about her regarding a calling. That Sunday, she said that the Spirit was sooo strong prompting her to get up. She said she was willing to get up, but she felt foolish sharing about her Patriarchal Blessing but listened to the spirit and the words flowed! We were both so touched that Heavenly Father played such an integral part of this process for the both of us!!
