Recap of September

Quickly after arriving in North Dakota, we realized that it would be better for us to wait out the housing market for a bit to see if it would stabilize (the prices were dropping by $10K every month!). We also knew that we couldn't afford to stay in the current rental so the search began for a new place within a more reasonable budget. The search didn't take long since there were only 4-5 homes under $3K/month that had 4 bedrooms. We felt that a newly constructed duplex on the Northeast part of town would be the best fit for us as we waited for a more permanent solution...
We also celebrated a couple of birthday's for some special people in our family!

Most of the month was spent unpacking and getting the house settled and keeping up with daily reports on Grandpa Carlson. A brain tumor was found in him and so they were in Utah getting it operated on. He spent 2 weeks in Utah recovering before heading home to Kearney. The Dr. was able to get all of the tumor and we were so blessed that it wasn't cancerous! There's always a long road of recovery associated with brain surgery but we are so grateful for how well grandpa is doing!!
We did have the missionaries over for dinner and also invited 2 families from the ward over for a dessert night. Mom has tried to attend several of the Relief Society get togethers and feels like she's making some new friendships. We also started back up with school. And finally, dad got his new company vehicle...
