In Our Family...
* Seth had a "Cooking Date" here at the house with 4 other couples. They made all sorts of goodies and then played outside in the backyard.
* Ben's friend, Porter Liberty, moved to Colorado and so he hosted a "Going Away" party for him on Tuesday night. About 10 boys came and they played lots of video games, watched a movie, played outside and ate junk food!
* Mom shampooed all of the carpets so when Grandpa Carlson came, his (cat/dog) allergies wouldn't act up!
* We rented a car on Thursday night and then took off to NEBRASKA on Friday morning! Mom and the girls rode in the rental and Dad and the boys were all in his truck. It took us just about 12 hours and we arrived in Kearney around 9pm where Grandma Carlson had a delicious Lasagna dinner waiting for us! Saturday we took the kids to The Children's Museum and then Sunday after church, we all drove down to Lincoln, Nebraska to kick off CARLSON FAMILY REUNION 2015! We were actually planning on doing family pictures that night, but Jared was quite sick and so we all stayed at JR and Lori's and had a nice Family Home Evening and visited. Monday morning, we all got up and went to the Omaha Zoo and Aquarium! Jared was feeling better so all 26 of us were there! We spent the day there and then went to a park near Jared and Hope's house where we had a BBQ, another FHE, and then we had a ZOMBIE Nerf gun game hosted by Grandpa! We all had a wonderful day! On Tuesday, we got up and headed back into Omaha - this time to the Temple! Grandma wanted to get our family pictures there. It started to rain on us - but we made it work! We then went to a nearby park and had lunch and played. We then went back to the Temple and walked on the grounds and had a little family meeting. Grandma and Grandpa shared their testimonies and feelings about the church and the Temple. We then walked the grounds some more and took some candid pics with our cell phones. Before taking off, we went through the Mormon Trail Center Museum which is part of the Temple Visitor's Center. We knew Dad was going to have to be leaving back to Minot the next morning and so we had to have our reunion come to a close :( We stopped back at Jared and Hope's and had some pizza before heading back to Kearney.
Spiritually Speaking...
For the second day of our Reunion, we had originally had 3 options for people to choose from (go to a water park, go to a Museum there in Lincoln or just hang out and visit)... and of course everyone wanted to do something different. Grandma really wanted the family to be together and so on Sunday morning, she woke up extra early with the thought that we should all go to the Winter Quarters Temple and spend the day (taking our family pictures, walking the grounds, visiting the Mormon Trails Center and having a family council/meeting). That was truly inspiration from the Lord because it was such a beautiful time for us all to be at the Temple together! We talked about how important the Temple is to us and to our family and how we know we can be an eternal family! I am so grateful for this knowledge and for the sealing powers of the Temple to bridge the gap of death so that we can be a Forever Family! It was also so special to have all of us there just being together and having no other agenda than to just BE TOGETHER! I'm grateful for the wonderful example Grandma and Grandpa have always been to me!
