February 3rd - 15th

In Our Family the Past Two Weeks...
* Ben got his Wisdom Teeth out! They have really been giving him fits and so we were very happy that our Dentist could fit him in fairly quick and get them extracted! Everything went well and he has healed up nicely... Coming out of Anesthesia is another story... he said some quite colorful things that he is embarrassed of and is happy that he has no recollection of actually saying! haha
* Mom had a girls night out with some of the gals in the Ward. We did a "Favorite's Thing" party and I really enjoyed myself.
* These past few weeks are almost like a blur with us potty training Maggie and getting up in the middle of the night with her - it's like having a newborn! We've been Kennel Training her and it's actually going quite well.. she is a very smart puppy and is catching on quickly. She's growing so much and is changing each day. Her and Lambert do not get along and he's either hissing at her or she's barking at him... I'm sure they'll come around to each other soon enough! The girls have been AMAZING little puppy mothers and get up early with her, and basically babysit her all day long! Ben and Nathan have also been helping out and having great attitudes with the additional work. And of course, dad is in HEAVEN! He absolutely adores her and thinks she's the greatest puppy anyone could ever have. He is also so very grateful to mom (on a daily basis) for letting him get her! He's about ready to start in on the bird hunting training and is excited about that.
* Nathan went to another Stake Dance (his second one!)... He's really been enjoying them and can't wait for the next one! Fortunately, there is a multi-stake dance every other Saturday. There are only 4 Teachers in our Ward, and they all go to the Dances together. I really love that even though their numbers are small, the boys all get along great and support each other and like doing things together!
* Valentine's Day! We continued on with our tradition and celebrated our 8th Annual "We Love To Be a Family Day!"... The girls asked if they could be in charge of everything and mom gladly turned it over to them! They did EVERYTHING from planning all of the games, making the breakfast (a yummy French Toast Bake), creating the banner and decorating the house! We did some of the original games like "Who's your Mummy" - where the Girls team outdid the boys! The Cookie Challenge (Lexi squeaked out that winning just seconds before Ben!) and Heart Stacker (where Seth dominated). And then they came up and introduced a few new "games" like Decorating Brownies, going on a Scavenger Hunt to find Grandma and Grandpa Carlson's cards and Pin the Nose on the Bear. They made a shopping list earlier in the week and asked to go to the Dollar Store to get most of the items.. Seth came home from BYUI for the long weekend and so was here for all of the festivities!
* In conjunction with Valentine's Day... the girls helped mom and they did an ADORABLE photo shoot of Maggie!! Check out the cuteness below!

Spiritually Speaking...
* Aubrie and Lexi were able to go do Baptisms with their Young Women class. They each took some family names that we'd found over the last few weeks. I love that they are so excited to be involved with Temple work and have the opportunity to go frequently! We've got another Family Baptism trip scheduled for this next Tuesday :)

* In the October 2019 General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson said:
"Thus, the year 2020 will be designated as a bicentennial year. General conference next April will be different from any previous conference. In the next six months, I hope that every member and every family will prepare for a unique conference that will commemorate the very foundations of the restored gospel … Immerse yourself in the glorious light of the Restoration. As you do, general conference next April will be not only memorable; it will be unforgettable."
This has been heavily on my heart and I want to make sure I've prepared myself for this unforgettable Conference! That is quite the promised blessing from our Prophet and I hope that we can be sufficiently prepared to partake in it!  I have come across several resources that other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have put together (a 30 day study guide and a 60 day Study guide) that we have been utilizing. In addition to our Come Follow Me studies, the kids and I have started using these resources to study more about the Restoration, Joseph Smith and the First Vision during our daily Enrichments associated with our schooling. I have really been enjoying this added layer of daily study!

* I love all of the Family History that has been taking place the last several weeks! I was starting to feel like something was missing and as I took inventory, I was impressed that it was Family History (particularly researching to find and connect our ancestors to our family tree). Since this realization I have been much more mindful of using my time more wisely and being intentional with researching our family.  In fact the other day, I had pulled up Family Search and then I got distracted and the day got away from me. I kept feeling like I should spend some time on FamilySearch, but it was getting later and I started making excuses on how I was too tired and it was getting too late, etc. Then I thought "Hmmm... I've had the feeling to work on family history ALL day but things keep coming up and I'm getting distracted - I bet I'm about to make a big discovery and the Adversary doesn't want that to happen and is keeping me distracted!" So I hopped up right then and got to work! Before long, I had found some important information that linked my 5th Great Grandmother (on the Williams side) to her parents and siblings and got our line connected all the way to the 1500's! That was awesome and felt so good! Much better than letting the evening slip by doing inconsequential things!
