January 20th - February 2nd

In Our Family The Past Two Weeks...
* Sadly, LOTS of illness! The stomach flu went through the family and every single person caught it... except for dad! It started off with Ben and ended with Mom. Fingers crossed that it's over!

* One of the weeks highlights that took place was a Baby Shower for McKendra! Her mom was in town for the day and so we planned it for when she'd be here. It was absolutely adorable with all of the cute foods and decor! Unfortunately it was a busy day for many of those invited - but we had fun with those that did make it! March 22 will be here before we know it and we'll be welcoming little Baby Henry!
* The girls love doing art (I've included a few pieces they've worked on below)... Lexi was really wishing she had a designated "Art Space" and so asked if she could use part of the Laundry room as a little studio where she could keep her paints and supplies and be creative! We gave her the thumbs up and she really utilized the space! She has spent quite a bit of time in there (as has Aubrie) letting their creative juices flow!
* Dad had a business trip to Portland for a few days and so mom thought that was the perfect time to do a little bathroom updating project that she'd been thinking about. The Honey Oak Cabinets look kinda dated but mom didn't want a huge ordeal of sanding and re-staining or painting the cabinets so... after consulting Pinterest, she saw a glazing technique that you literally just wipe a darker gel stain onto your cabinets and then wipe it off. It was super simple the whole project was done in an evening! The longest part was waiting for the drying between the two polyurethane coats that were applied. New knobs were put on, the builder grade mirror was taken down and a framed mirror (that was scored at the thrift store for $10!) was hung. The Baby blue paint was replaced with a classier gray and a coordinating shower curtain was hung (these two things were actually done a few weeks ago). Dad was certainly surprised when he got home but we all love how the bathroom looks and are considering doing our kitchen cabinets in the same technique! Sadly, we forgot to get any good "Before" pictures until the drawers had already been glazed! Oh well... at least we remembered when we did! Enjoy the transformation in pictures...

Spiritually Speaking...
We've really had a great January in regards to Come Follow Me. We have been quite consistent and the kids are even taking turns leading the daily studies.

For our daily Enrichments with school, we have instituted a new rotation. The kids each take a day and prepare the Enrichment lesson. Last week we decided to take this a step further and follow the counsel of our Prophet and really study about the First Vision and Restoration of the gospel - so when it's their turn to give the Enrichment lesson, it can be on anything as long as it's somehow relevant and teaching about the Restoration. We've had some good discussions so far and can't wait to see what the following weeks bring.

We are all so grateful for how much the Lord has blessed us and protected us and continues to keep us safe! We love having 2 Temples close by and the added strength we feel as we regularly attend!
