In Our Family this Week... It has been quite the week for us!! August and Seth both had 2 practices a day for Football and were gone roughly 8 hours a day! I subsequently spent 2-3 hours chauffeuring them to and fro. On Tuesday evening I had a "Mother's Meeting" for the Deseret Homeschool Association that I belong to. I rode with Melissa Wolfe and Kami Hymas (both from my ward) and really enjoyed myself! Wednesday was Mutual and with John gone coaching football, I ended up taking the 3 little ones with me to Young Womens with me. They actually did rather well - not that I'd want that to be a regular occurance! LOL Thursday evening, I came to the realization that I would NOT be ready (mentally) to start a new school year if the house was not 110% in order! So, I started on Friday tackling some big jobs that had been needing my attention. One of the areas was the pantry and in the process of decluttering it, I realized that I had TONS of shelving that was not being utilized to its potential! So... 5 hours later, I had cleared off a couple of of the shelves and they are now home to books and schools supplies! With the Five In a Row curriculum that I'm using with the littles, I now have a container for each week/book to have its own container and all books and materials can be placed together so I can just grab the container and go! Plus this will really help keep me organized as I'm gathering the books and resources for future weeks/books (I have a spot to organize 3 -4 books). The biggest news from this week is.... the Burb got painted!! John took the suburban over to Bills the first part of the week and they got it all prepped and painted!! We took $200 from the wedding I shot last weekend and that was enough to cover all of the supplies and materials (Bill owns the equipment needed to professional paint vehicles). The end result was awesome! Pictures are included below :) It certainly looks a lot more "updated" and I couldn't be happier! Also, on Saturday, Ben and John had their big Football Jamboree down at BSU. Their team dominated on the field and they were both so happy! That evening, John and Brent went back down to BSU to watch the Boise State Scrimmage.
In Our Homeschool This Week... I really wish I had some pictures of the girls artwork. They spend 1-2 hours a day doing some sort of art project! We've also been doing more reading! All 3 little ones have read the first BOB book and I'm just so pleased with their progress! Aubrie even surprised me and read the first few pages of Dr. Seuss's "Hop on Pop" this week! I picked up the Muzzy Spanish course from the library this week and so we'll get started on that as well. With the older boys gone so much throughout the day, it's been easier to just spend some time with each of the little ones this week working on their reading.
My Favorite Thing This Week... Hmmmm.. I had a few fun things going on this week, but I guess my most favorite would be getting the burb paninted!
I'm Grateful For... I'm really grateful that we both of our vehichles are running! I've been getting very nervous about the van and I'm just so grateful that it's still getting the job done and holding on!
My Goals for This Week... Get the rest of the house 100% dejunked/decluttered and ready for another school year! I plan to spend 3-4 hours a day on the specified "Zone" and get it all done! I know I'm just going to feel sooooo good after this week! I'll also put the finishing touches on our school curriculum and get everything ready to officially start next week!!
