* The first full week of 2015 was spent with most of the family members SICK! We've all had a head cold/cough/chest congestion that has lasted for a about a week! So the week has been pretty uneventful with lots of resting and snuggling.
* We took down Christmas - what a sad day! Everyone commented on how "empty" the house looked. It took mom a couple of days to get it all put away and she is already looking forward to November 1st when it can all come back out!
* Super cold temps between -20 and -50 (with windchill) every single day. Brrr!
* Mom created a new chore chart system that also helps in limiting screen time. We start tomorrow with it and we'll see how it goes!
* Mom got all of the lesson plans for the next 6 weeks done and ready to start back into school tomorrow.
* August went out with the Missionaries earlier this week
In Our Homeschool This Week...
* Even though we were still on "break" and were sick, we did Enrichment and Read Alouds. The girls and Nathan LOVED playing a new math fractions game we got for Christmas and they played for several hours throughout the week.
* The girls did art projects and reading
* August and Seth's University classes started this week and they are knee deep in with their Math and Science classes through BYUI.
* Ben got bitten by the writing bug and spent several hours writing a book! He is pretty proud of it and the storyline is pretty entertaining! He is already dreaming about self publishing it :)
Spiritually Speaking...
I love how aware Heavenly Father is of His children! I love knowing that I can turn to him for direction in my life as well as in homeschooling and parenting. As I was brainstorming what new chore system (because let's face it... you've got to continually shake up Chore Charts to keep everyone motivated!) and I knew what I wanted done but wasn't sure exactly how to implement it... so I turned to Heavenly Father in prayer. During my prayer, thoughts came into my mind on exactly how to make everything work together and I'm really excited about it!
Also, Aubrie gave the talk today in Primary. This is what she said:
When we say the 1st Article of Faith, we learn an eternal truth that Jesus Christ is God's son. Knowing this makes me happy because I also know that I am a child of God.
