Spiritually Speaking...
Well, it was really special to have the girls attend the Women's Broadcast with me for the first time! It is open to all women and girls aged 8 and up. We got all dressed up, did our hair, grabbed our notebooks for notes (mom) and drawing (for the girls! haha) and off we went into Billings! The Broadcast itself was really uplifting and I wanted to jot down a few of my notes/thoughts from the evening:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
These verses give us 3 Warnings/Counsel followed by a Promise.
Counsel 1: TRUST in the Lord with all thine heart
Counsel 2: LEAN NOT unto thine own understanding
Counsel 3: In ALL ways ACKNOWLEDGE him
Promise: He shall direct thy PATHS
What does it mean to LEAN? It means to be "off balanced". In Spiritual terms, it means that we are leaning away from the Savior and that we are not focused on Christ. So... HOW do we keep ourselves Centered and TRUST IN THE LORD?
1. Feast upon the words of Christ; for the words of Christ will tell you everything to do
2. Pray
3. Serve others
And a quote that I really liked from President Eyrings talk was:
"UNITY in our families will come when we see each other through the eyes of the Savior and by listening to the promptings of the Holy Ghost"
Also, today during Sacrament one of the speakers told the story of how it's so important to read the scriptures as a family each and everyday - even when it seems like the kids aren't listening. The thought came to me that I need to be so very diligent in our daily Enrichments and how that is probably the MOST important thing I will do each day with the kids!
